Problems Associated With Tablets Formulation

With the development in the pharmaceutical industry, the production of capsules and tablets formulation have become mechanized and simplified. Tablet punching presses are also mechanized but still some problems persist in tableting.

Tablet processing problems can occur due to the tablets formulation or because of compression equipment. Considering these two factors, the problems associated with the tableting can be divided into various kinds including the problems due to excipients, during process including lamination or capping, and problems due to machine or double impression.

Problems that occur due to excipients arise because of the errors in the granulation process or due to inappropriate addition of excipients.

About lamination, it is quite similar to capping; the only difference is in this case, the tablets get separated into various layers. And reasons behind the lamination are either the air entrapment or the high speed of press turret.

Picking in the formulation process occurs when a part of the tablets get stucked to the punch surface and also eroded from the surface of tablets. Binding and sticking are two other granulation process options that makes formulation complex.

Other than focusing on ideal tablet formulation process, it is also important for the manufacturers to make use of GMP tablet machines.
